It's very hard to know what goes into a good Star Wars movie, but it's pretty easy to know some of the things that don't:
[spoiler]gratingly bad creature design (there's always some, but please, not too many screen minutes)
suspiciously racist aliens
overly high ratio of whining to pluckiness among the protagonists
excessively visually busy combat scenes without comprehensible vectors of movement
seemingly pointless or underdeveloped plots involving fleets and battle stations[/spoiler]
and a few other things.
For me this film was really only a bit average on the final point.
