Haven't seen the fight yet, love a good boxing film but I was put off by Gyllenhall and the fact the film is supposed to be based on Eminem's life ๐
Regarding the open punches, you'd be surprised how many punches a boxer with a good chin can take without going down. Some of the stories boxing writes are much less realistic than a film script could ever get, like Vazquez winning vs Marquez over 12 rounds with a torn knee ligament, Hearns - Hagler producing one of the best boxing rounds and fights ever when the former broke his hand a minute into the fight or the Gatti - Ward trilogy which probably tops all of them.
If you're interested in boxing you should really watch the whole fight (and the second and third bout too).
