Saw sinister yesterday. Best comedy Ive seen in a while!

Finally got to see The Imposter.
So well constructed and completely gripping all the way through.
The sinister brilliance of a pathological liar, desperation to believe the unbelievable. Or maybe not.
Would definitely recommend it.

Rewatched McCabe & Mrs Miller earlier tonight. Was once again reminded that it has one of the most poetic opening scenes ever shot:

For years I was convinced that Cohen had written The Stranger Song specifically for this film.

The Imposter was a really enthralling film. I read a terrific feature article about Frédéric Bourdin subsequently that filled in a few of the blanks from the documentary, but I can't remember where, sadly.

The two best films of the year so far have been Once Upon A Time In Anatolia and Beasts Of The Southern Wild.

Watched Saw again for the first time in a long time at the weekend. Some very creaky dialogue, and acting, in places but still loads of fun. The twist at the end is still... well, it's a killer.

No, haven't seen that - sounds good though.

Back in the day I had the pleasure of seeing the Windies bowling at the MCG when their pace attack was Marshall, Ambrose, Walsh and Patterson ... farking hell. 😃

I saw The Master the other day. It was a pretty typical PT Anderson film, another obsessive investigation of the male ego. Something tells me he has a troubled relationship with his father.

Very strong first half hour, then lost its way a little bit, but the two male leads give brilliant performances and it's a very good looking, interesting film about interestingly fucked up people. A bit more realistic, a bit less fabular than There Will Be Blood. 8/10

Total Recall (remake): They go to australia instead of Mars...

Was passable entertainment. The 'is it a dream or isn't it' moment at the end was executed so poorly that it almost ruined the film; was like they forgot about it for everything barring the closing scene and they should really have just left it out.

Yeah, saw it on a plane recently ... thought it was pretty bad, the stars really lacked charisma relative to the original, though it was a bit of fun picking the bits where they'd stayed with, or varied from the 80s movie.

Like the airport scene with the fat lady.

The infamous "triple tits" scene from the original was just as ridiculous this time around. 🙂

Thought Jessica Biel wasn't too bad. Kate Beckinsale tried her best to emulate her underworld role and Farrell dialled it in.

And while I remember, the car chase scene has to be one of the poorest committed to film in recent years although the parts with the elevator were much better.

Yeah, it was all a bit meh for mine.

Didn't have that edge of sleaze that Paul Verhoeven always gave a film.

I might have mentioned this several pages ago, I got it on Blu-Ray last year and absolutely loved it. Particularly as I'm just about old enough to remember England regularly being smashed up by these boys what seemed like every week.

Fire in Babylon and Senna are two of the best sports docs I've seen.

Saw Argo the other day. Good, thrilling movie with a slightly over the top final act. Good acting all around too.
