As I am posting this... it looks like my former team-mate Robin van Persie is joining Fenerbahçe.
The moment Sir Alex Ferguson told us in the changing room at Carrington that he was retiring, I looked to my left around 6 lockers where I saw a totally devastating looking RVP... he was shaking his head in shock, completely disheartened it seemed. Robin took it the worst out of the whole squad.

Except that's not what happened. We struggled to deal with their width in the first half. They pushed their wide players and fullbacks on and had those out balls, which meant we became very stretched. It was a tactical issue, we adjusted second half and dominated.

Not at all really. And in fact we had uncharacteristically low possession too to go go with significantly less shots and chances.

Utd had more possession against most of the top teams last season, doesn't mean they dominated or "ran over" the opposition midfield. As I said, they set up tactically in a way that we struggled to cope with in that first half. Young in particular was found in a lot of space, but they stretched us across the field with their width. Meant our midfield was very overworked and they consequently found lots of pockets between the lines. Second half we played closer together and went more direct, the two consequences of which meant all their possession happened in front of us and then we avoided their pressing. We should have won that game in the second half.

Herrera, Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger is a good midfield, to be fair. All three are solid and good on the ball as well. But, they lack a proper creative force in there. If they play Mata ahead of Schneiderlin and Schqeinsteiger, that could be a good combination on paper. Hope Van Gaal sticks to Fellaini on top of midfield and plays Mata out wide.

One of them is claiming its the best in the league, when 2 of their midfielders haven't even played for them yet. I'm pretty sure there was a thread last season regarding their attacking (AdM, RvP, Rooney and Falcao) and they were claiming it was the best in the league.

They just don't learn.

Apparently they are close to signing a striker as well - LVG making some comments about another signing. That would be an obscene amount of investment in the team over the last two years. Nervous times.
