Don't think it says anything about nintendo personally. You choose to release a game during launch window and you know what is going to happen. What did Ubi expect? 20m sales in three months? It's Ubi who decided to jump on that bandwagon, could have made it multi-platform from day 1.
Fact is that they promised a release date, apparently have the product ready for that release date and have shelved it for laughs. A 2d Rayman will be lucky to break a million, 2 million would be absolutely blockbuster for this title; that was proven by the way Origins bombed and that was on, literally, everything.
Nintendo's marketing is, however, some of the worst that I have ever seen from such a big company.
