The pulling players backs thingy is perhaps the thing I hate the most. It's absolutely ridiculous, and apart from one time, I've never gotten a red card for it, even when I've been denying obvious goal scoring opportunities.
I might have exaggerated ever so slightly to get my point across, but in my experience almost everyone from Div 3 and up abuse the long balls tactic. In fact, that's the very reason I got fed up and started doing it myself. Also, it's not easy to defend against it, because you can't defend properly against it, that's the point. If I fire a long ball from one of my defenders, you can't even see your own defenders or my attackers on your TV, so how are you going to defend against it? When my Front 3 is [Di Maria - Ronaldo - Bale], all it takes is for one of your defenders to be positioned slightly wrong and I'm through on goal.
Sometimes I fire it straight down the middle as well, as I might just outrun you, or take advantage of the fact that fuck-ups happen, quite often. You press X for the player to pass, but for some inexplicable reason he felt the need to take an extra touch before he could do that, or he completely screwed up whatever he was trying to do and I end up with the ball. Obviously it fails most of the time, but it's a numbers game, and when I do this all the time, I will end up with several great chances every game, and there's nothing you can do about it.
Again, I did exaggerate a little bit seeing how this frustrates the hell out of me, and people abuse to it varying degrees, and most people try to combine it with some proper football, so of course every match doesn't look completely like your average match at Britannia. Still, almost everyone I face use it to some degree, and most of the goals I concede are due to it.
