I agree wiz dis - think we have a chance to get going even before he's back at his peak (which should take months, even if the lad's a formidable adaptor) - but we need for him to take the game on himself, do it regularly, and let the team know he's doing that. Our best minutes lately were patches where he was doing just that.
We don't just miss a good ball carrier out of defense, a real B2B option, a passer, etc. We need an authority in the middle of the park. We need an anchor for the team. We need for them to not only get going, but to know we are doing that, to be sure we are on and not in panic mode. Every one will then maybe do their job and start playing at their real level. Only Jacques can do zat for us, and he shouldn't be waiting until he's back on fabregas level. He should start saving our ass now.

Defence still has issues and self combusts in the standard way of the last 4 years, yes its obviosuly fucking us on points due to how shit we are at creating but if we are liable to concede everytime the ball is turned over when we push up then you are fucked.

the team needs to work on moving off the ball and trying incisive passes rather then sideways drawl and back to the centrebacks, issues all over the place but this has been the root of our shit passing for a while now.

Couldn't disagree with you more, most top sides have at least one enforcer, teams that score and concede freely are nothing but a joke.

Who said anything about conceding freely? Generally the better attack you have the defence has an easier time. There is no way top sides in Europe go out on the pitch with the mentallity of not conceding as a priority. It's the mentality of underdogs.

In the 5 games we've scored 2 or more we've won 4 and drawn 1. In the 5 games we've not conceded we've won 2 and drawn 3.

get rid of overpaid, useless players who don't even fit in (i.e. gervinho, chamack, arshavin, walcott, fabianski etc) and spend money on a creative winger, a striker and a central midfielder.

let chamberlain have a run of games on the left side. let podolski alternate with giroud up front. kill gervinho.

The midfield has to change, the three of Arteta, Jack & Cazorla is not going to magically turn into our version of Xavi, Iniesta & Busquets, we can't keep persisting with that and I think I wouldn't be against even having a 5 man midfield. Those three are simply not controlling games so maybe we need another midfielder in there, possibly either Rosicky or even Ramsay. Cazorla needs to play much higher up the pitch, want this guy up with the strikers not having to battle it out in midfield, only player in the squad who provides genuine cutting edge. When we had Diaby imo he was playing higher up the pitch and with more freedom than right now, could do with him right now but we can't keep relying on someone who is so injury prone

We need to stop this current slow passing and moving it out to the wings and cross bullshit, quicker shorter passes. We seem to have lost the ability to play one touch football, if teams pressurise you if you move the ball quick enough they can't get near you just like Barca have shown.

Sneijder could be available. Inter would like him to basically half his wages to Arsenal levels. Maybe an offer of 120-130 reels him in. There is no space for him at any of the big clubs. They all have good 10s. Still only 28. Put him in the Cazorla role, send Cazorla out wide and wave goodbye to Walcott. That would solve our No. 10 problem. We'd still, however, be left with a DM gap.

Yup. Sneijder was only the best player on a club team that won the treble, and again the best player (and leading scorer, iirc) on a limited national team that made it to the world cup final. Yep. Not very good.

There are better players than Sneijder out there, but ones who we can get? This guy is a low-hanging fruit if his relationship with Inter is sour. The team is abusing him, asking him to half his wages and benching him for not doing so. (wish we could do the same with Chamakh and Arshavin). We are not getting Gotze, are probably going to lose the Isco fight next summer, etc. This guy could be available mid-season if we are willing to take (say) a 20m pound for 3 season contract along with a 15m pound transfer fee.

i do think, however, at some point we need to bring in a superstar or near star or else we will never return from the abyss of mediocrity. we need to remind people that we are the team that once set a record fee in bringing in Bergkamp. that we were a team that once boasted the talents of Bergkamp, Vieira and Henry on one team. if we don't do this soon, we could be at risk of not attracting any stars for several years

i can't see why other teams would go for him. They all have at least one guy who can do a job at 10

Barca: all those imps
United: Kagawa, Rooney, etc
Citeh: Silva, Tezez, etc
Chelsea: Mata, Oscar
and so forth across the big teams.
