I think the second half of this dead game, with us 1 up already, could have been an opportunity to blood Akpom and play Arshavin in his preferred position keeping Gervinho and Ox out wide?

Pretty much this. No idea why Townsend decided to talk up Ox, who I thought was rubbish.

As for Ramsey, he was just Ramsey - some nice passes, but gives the ball away a LOT and chokes in front of goal.

Rosicky is class by the way. Gives the midfield more urgency and penetration. Hopefully his substitution was only precautionary and we can finally relegated Ramsey to the reserves.

I liked Coquelin in patches, won the ball nicely and attempted some lovely through balls which nearly came off. Had some really poor to downright stupid moments as well though. Lost the ball a few times in dangerous areas, failed to track midfield runners, threw himself into tackles unnecessarily and might have been sent off even.

I might have been a tad harsh on him, but I wouldn't rate his overall performance any better than average.

Totally right there. I think Wenger is doing something similar to what Ferguson did with Ronaldo when he persisted in playing him through his bad form. I distinctly remember a European game when he took Giggs off and Giggs made a gesture towards Ronaldo.

So nothing surprisingly good about the game, performance, players played or the result then?

I didn't see it but looking at who featured :\ ....
I suppose when he populated the spine of the team with semi retired superduds such as Squillaci and Chamakh, alongside struggling Ramsey and Chamberlain, Wenger wasn't really setting us up for a win.
Throwing in a headless Gervinho and pass back master Jenkinson would really have compounded the problem.

I dread to ask but why would Wenger have considered this performance encouraging (he claims he did)?
Would that have been Rosicky related?
