They wouldn't get in each others way either. Not with Mertesacker playing between the two chickens.
But our fullbacks push up quite a bit anyway. If you look at heat map of player positions during a game you'd see our fullbacks in line with the midfield.
I'm not sure how much there is to gain by pushing them even further forward and removing our wide players.
