A few papers saying we'll make one last push for Villa. Still think Barça will block it, but at least two of the three important parties want it to happen.

I'd take him here in a heartbeat despite his age and recent injury history.
He's a top rate goal scorer, might just save our sorry lot.

Not true.
The Podolski, Chamakh and Cazorla links had substance.
Plenty of people did not believe the Podolski one when it first appeared in December 2011 🙂
Somewhere in the middle of all the crap and twitter and gosdip there is some truth.
Certain elements in the Villa link make it plausible, nothing about the Cavani one was very believable in relation to us.

What's up with nothing serious happening at all? what happened to "working very hard" and "30 mill" rumor? How's it possible with one week to go there's just nothing at all on the horizon?

That's just revisionism. I can make up any old stories I like, and if any of them come true I get to say "I told you so".

We've been linked to nearly every decent player in every decent devision at some point in the past year.

If there is any truth or secret knowledge floating around, it's impossible for us to ascertain it.

You said that all links had equal (zero) substance, I was just saying that's not true.
For most signings that we make (bar Santos or Park style out of the blue deals) there is usually a thread here linking us to that player and usually there is a point in that thread where it becomes clear that there is a genuine story attached.
I don't have any more knowledge than anyone else, I just like guessing and speculating and trying to spot the few real deals amongst amongst the mountains of rubbish

I'm not saying you said "I told you so" 🙂 That was just an example. And I like guessing as much as anyone else.

The point I'm making is that the idea of "That was never real though" applying to the Cavani story, and not the Villa story is bizarre. The only way we know if a link is genuine is if that player signs, or someone genuinely in the know (managers, board members and players) says it is.
