In the context of things that isn't much, van persie and rooney earn a reportedly combined 27m a year on wages way too much for rooney. And then you realise why we cant compete for the title.

I'm not so sure. The reason he won't extend with Inter is because they've offered him a contract which would slice his wages in half. Apart from the obvious disrespectfulness, why not just sign that one instead if you're willing to take a pay cut?
