Will watch Arsenal of course, but will defo record the Dortmund v Madrid game and watch it straight after our game.
I am VERY excited about our game tonight. Don't understand, at all, those who feel this is a mere pointless distraction. Our players OWE us a great performance. Hopefully that will be enough to get the 3 points.
Schalke's front three are easily on par with what we are likely to put out tonight. We need a top performance from our back 5 to keep them quiet. Hopefully our superior midfield will tip things in our favor though.
its cos we feel our players dont have the quality or mind set to give us what they owe us. schalke wont be all tippy tappy but they carry a big goal threat. I can see them pulling our troliies down and smacking our botty if we're not at 100%

I guess Wenger has made the right call here
Arsene........
Bah I'm not even gonna finish that.
I'd rate our chances higher tonight if Chousette - The Sock, is parked right at the end of the bench.

Yeah. I was mad at Mannone too after Norwich but I think there's a lot of sense in the experience argument. Keepers really need it. You pick one and stick with him. In the end you'll be better off than if you're constantly rotating back and forth.
Man U seem to be doing alright despite changing every other game... Or not.
United are rotating between two good keepers who both have +100 games under their belt (though at the end of the day they're switching because neither one of them is at the required level). We're at the other end of the scale.
I know. 🙂
No you don't. Stop bumping the thread.

Honestly?? Schalke is a big game for us as well.
Seems as if Schalke wanted to sign Podolski. Podolski being a classy guy though wasn't interested in a move within the Bundesliga.
That's the way you do it RVP! :gah:

Actually 🙁
Got called in at work 🙁 Will be missing this now.
Hoping for Giroud to score again, and the Art-Caz partenrship to get back on track, thought they both had their poorest games (okay, that's not a big sample size for Cazorla especially, but still).
Wonder if there will be any surprises in the starting eleven? Right side of our attack might be a problem again if we're playing Gervinho there with Ramsey on the right side of midfield, which we probably will.
Can see Schalke restricting the number of chances that we create, going to have to be very sharp in converting whatever comes our way. Would like to see Cazorla, Podolski, Gervinho run at the Schalke defence more often than they did against the Norwich defence. If all else fails at least draw some fouls, earn some free kicks within striking range.
Not quite sure what kind of a performance to expect - avoiding the strain of conceding the first goal would be helpful.
We'll win this 2-0.
We don't lost at home in Europe save for one loss to Man Utd in 2008-09 but generally we don't lose at home.
I honestly think if we can hold it together away from home in Europe in the latter stages of the competition i.e scoring an away goal and drawing, we could go far in this competition since it's usually our away matches that see us knocked out, 4-0 in Milan, 3-1 at Barca before, 4-1 at Barca the year before that. We have to stop capitulating in away games in Europe, survival is the name of the game.
What's your definition of going far Squallkid? Semis?
Going far to me is the semi-finals, it seems about our level at the moment if luck goes our way and we keep things tight during our away trips.
I can see us getting knocked out of the League cup by Reading since the squad is paper thin at the moment and we never take the FA cup seriously so this is where we will have to make a run.
I just have a feeling we'll see Bayern Vs an English team in the final this year at Wembley which would be the reverse of what happened last year.
Please God no Ramsey tonight tar
Ramsey will start, I think. Also maybe Coquelin. Gervinho central, Giroud on the bench.
Mannone, Jenkinson, Mertesacker, Vermaelen, Santos, Arteta, Coquelin, Cazorla, Ramsey, Gervinho, Podolski
