Surprised no one's been talking about this. For those of you out of the loop, Leeds equalized at Sheffield Wednesday, a minor pitch invasion occurred, and a fan pushed Chris Kirkland in the face:

Wednesday's manager:

They are vile animals. You talk about racism [but] the chanting, that's a form of racism

And Neil Warnock:

"I felt embarrassed to be a manager, it was an absolute disgrace. I think they should get the guy, prosecute him, and put him in prison. There's no place at all for that.

"Listen, he (Kirkland) went down like a ton of bricks, but that doesn't make a difference. There's no way he should be on the pitch doing that, I hope we can make an absolute issue of it.

Apparently seats and bottles were thrown at police, but the main topic of conversation is what's going to happen to Leeds. Do their away fans deserve a season-long ban? Was Kirkland exaggerating, or was it inevitable that a player was going to go down easy if caught off guard?

IMO Leeds should probably face an away ban for a few games regardless of how much Kirkland was acting.

In addition to any criminal sanctions, I reckon clubs should be deducted points on top forfeiting any points earned during the game in question for that kind of behaviour extending also to the more extreme obscene chanting at grounds. That way those idiots will not just be punished individually, but will see their clubs punished in the only way that probably affects them - losing points. Can't see many fans in the stands happy to accept them back in then.

From that gif, I don't see any exaggeration on Kirkland's part. The shove was unexpected and pretty strong.

The guy should be prosecuted, that's for sure. The FA needs to come down hard on Leeds for their fans as well.

Leeds are scum, always have been.
Just deduct 20 pts from them then they'll get their house in order.

Warnock is such a cunt. Suits Leeds.

Was Kirkland taking his usual 5 minute goal kick?

No one looking good out of that. Embarrassing for Kirkland, disgraceful for Leeds.

For the fan getting on I think he should be dealt with individually. Fine the club but its one guy.

What was the extent of the chanting?

He admitted and said he was drunk. He got 16 weeks in jail and 5 years ban.

Banged up for 16 weeks! For that? You serious?

1 week for the assault and 15 weeks for the RvP Troll face.

"Cawley, who had previously breached a number of football banning orders in the past"

Repeat scumbag by the sounds of it. 16 weeks isn't enough. He'll probably be out in 4 anyway.
