lorddulaarsenal I feel ya dules.
About to hit 40, and really questioning my ability to keep fit enough for my relatively competitive mens 90 min sunday league. Still playing against youngsters (fucking 25 year olds) and feeling it.
My achilles hate me from Mon to Wed after a game, soft tissue injuries are lingering, and I'm up against it (with kiddos) to find enough time for 2-3 cardio sessions from Wed to Sat to ensure I'm fit for Sunday.
Proper rexovery seems like a huge part of it, but half the reason I play footy is to forget about all of the planned and forced elements of my life. Can't say I'm very excited at turning away from the 2nd or 3rd post game beer, or dialing in nutrients, shakes, etc. I don't mind the body work, more than happy to hit the roller, epsom salt baths, deep stretching, etc.
So who knows from here, thinking this fall I may step back for a while and just enjoy casual pick up, and let me cardio come from running soft trails rather than shredding my ankles through cleats and hard ground.
