Personally, I think any sort of short term diet is a problem. The whole definition of a diet is that you are āonā one, which means that at some point you plan to get āoffā. This is exactly why the vast majority of people who lose weight canāt keep it off, and a lot of the time they are actually worse off in the long run.
Tony is right IMO that it is about actually changing your eating habits. I also think it is imperative that you find a sustainable way of eating which you actually enjoy, otherwise you wonāt stick with it. Gazza is also right that weight loss is an energy balance game. Personally, Iād start with cutting down on wheat flour and sugar while upping my intake of vegetables. That along with your new exercise regimen should put you at a healthy pace of weight loss of about 1 to 2 pounds per week, at least to begin with. Hopefully your exercise regimen also includes resistance training, because that will help you prevent from loss of muscle mass when in a calorie deficit.
In conclusion, diet and cardio is mostly a bullshit recipe. š
