I didn't say it was a good reason to drop him.
Just stood out in my mind as being truly woeful.

I'd rather not to have to pick from either Ramsey or Diaby at all.
They both need to play a lot of football to sort out their individual issues but it should not be something that we should have to live with in the first team.

would like to see a front line of Ox-Poldi-Theo, Liverpool are still getting used to playing a high line under Rodgers and can be caught out with a bit of pace.

Podolski (he can't be dropped of the starting XI, he needs time)
Giroud (same as Podolski)
Walcott (anyone is better than gervinho)

I really hope that our shit players dont play in this match.

I like your logic there AA.

Walcott probably is a good choice, if he's still our player on the day. This is likely to be much more end to end than either of our first two encounters so he should have a bit more space to run into.

AOC, Podolski, Giroud, Walcott though - so much uncertainty in what those four would produce.

Not sure on what our ideal central defensive partnership is. I think the tall/medium partnership theory isn't quite what it's cracked up to be.

Arteta can't cover for both AOC and Cazorla defensively. You've got a reason for everybody except AOC in that lineup.

I say take Walcott out, put Caz on the wing, and start Ox as the AM. Diaby next to Art again should give them a platform to work off of. Gerv and Walcott as impact subs. Or let one of Giroud or Poldi sit it out until the 65th minute.

AoC can even wander off onto the wing in that formation and Poldi and Giroud can play off each other up front in a 442. Ox/Cazorla/Arteta seems like a midfield where somebody will have to play a role they're not as comfortable with, and its not necessary to make anyone do that with the players that are fit.

ox, cazorla, arteta might be feasible against the bottom 10 at home. away from home, or in big games, it's too risky.

I'm not willing to say anything concrete about AOC playing as a creative mid for us until I've seen it in action in a big match, but I think he's going to lack composure under that sort of responsibility for a while.

I think he's shown that he is capable, as Klaus is pointing out, but the great part about putting Cazorla and Chamberlain in the same team is that they can swap positions at any time if it isn't working out.

@[deleted] Sadly I didn't watch that match because it screened at three o'clock in the morning, in the middle of a heavy working week, but anyway, I'm reserving judgement not saying he can't do it. 🙂

BUT: we've got a shortfall in midfield that Wenger needs to rectify. My faith in Diaby looked pretty misplaced at the weekend, he was average at best. Rosicky and Ramsey are both useful players but both tend to drift in and out of matches.

I would like to see him play more centrally a bit. I wonder if he could produce the type of display Wenger dreams from Diaby; strong, direct, dynamic but with a bit more composure. For me, thatshould have been the substitution on Sunday (and much earlier too).

Our midfield is a concern as I feel we're missing someone who can attack the penalty area. If Ox can be that playerir could change our season.

Ramsey should be that player, and should be able to attack the box from that position, but he's had a brain snap as far as shooting is concerned. Which just goes to show the pressure a young player dropped in there is under.

I get the impression from comments made by both Wenger and Chamberlain that he will be played centrally, and will be that midfielder who carries the ball to the edge of the box from deep lying positions.

🙂 I was a bit tetchy there, but it's all a bit too soon for me when it comes to Song. We didn't need to sell him and we certainly could do with him now.
