I suppose I should act like I know the answer to this question well. 🙂
He certainly didn't score too many cracking goals like the one that had us beat Chelsea 3-2 away in 97-98.
According to my recollection, he was pretty useful in a dead ball situation from time to time, and could hit it if he had time to get his head over the ball.
But he wasn't really an overlapping player after the manner of a Gibbs or a Cole, or a combination player. And of course he was one of the four members of the tightest defence around, brilliant tackler and a pretty tireless runner.
Others who were older during his peak years may have a more refined memory ...
