I wouldn't be surprised at all by any corruption coming out of that bid. Throw in the head of Asian Football at the time being Mohammed bin Hamman - from Qatar - and I'm so shocked Qatar won it.
FIFA is about as corrupt as an organisation can get. I have no proof for this of course, but with the amount of money involved in football, the global spread of the game, and the votes required from countries with lax attitudes to probity, then corruption is guaranteed.
Human Rights Watch have a report coming out this week too about labour practices in Qatar. The workers who build the new stadia and associated infrastructure will not be treated at all well.
