Italian hooligans are basically cowards, particularly when it comes to fan clashes with the English. You then have the police that think it's ok to wade into the fans because they think they're hooligans but these cops are so late. It's not 1980 anymore. Look at your own fans.
A few guys were quietly having a drink and being well behaved. Unarmed naturally. Then some dickheads with weapons come in and attack them as if they are hard nuts. I genuinely don't believe these Spurs fans knew what was coming.
Make that fight even and let's see what happens. Attacking unarmed people is pathetic.
seems like a fair few of those who were attacked weren't even supporters as well. The most interesting part is that the attackers were allegedly Roma supporters- IMO most incidents in Rome occur at the hands of Roma's lot. They did a few of our lot a couple of seasons ago; IIRC there was a few stabbings and a smashed up minibus or two. Italian fans are probably up there with Russians, Serbs, and Croats for the worst in Europe. The problem seems to be A) the carabinieri seem to be just as up for it as the fans and B) the ultras usually have the clubs in their back pockets (threats of boycotts, etc), which makes the clubs WAY less likely to take action.
Could be a bit lively outside the lane this weekend, as west ham and lazio fans get along fairly well (a relic from the di canio days)
