This formation doesn't suit Italy. Why did Prandelli change such a good formula? Doesn't help that Pirlo has been crap, but the offensive midfielders are De Rossi, Marchisio and Thiago Motta - no invention. And nobody on the flanks to pull the Irish out of shape. If Prandelli insists on this formation play Giovinco in the hole, not fucking Thiago Motta.

Very poor, but Italy are 1st as it stands? Spain need a goal.

Prefer GD than H2H so much more. Now everything is so tactical rather than encouraging scoring.

Had to fit in Barzagli somehow once he was back. To be fair he hasn't done much wrong tactically. He just needs to bench Motta and use Giovinco instead to really start unlocking defences. Plenty of defensive workrate in Pirlo, Marchisio and De Rossi anyway.

Yeah, it's sad to see him play his final games like this though. He was mighty for us in his day.

Only saw the last 15-20 minutes of the Italy-Ireland half, but in that time Italy looked well on top and just a matter of time before they scored. Didn't seem to be much wrong with them tactically.

You guys weren't paying much attention then. Italy shouldn't be struggling against Ireland only scoring (barely!) through a corner - they should be carving out chances in open play like Croatia and Spain have.
