Afobe loaned to Bolton for the season. Thats a good move for him and us. If he can make himself a first team regular for them this season theres a good chance he can play a part for us eventually.

DM are reporting that Galatasary have made a bid for Arshavin.
He probably wouldn't want to go there though.

if we're absolutely not going to play certain players, and no one will loan or take them for free because of their contracts, then we simply have to accept the loss and subsidise a portion of their contracts. we still save the remainder and can use it towards players that can help us win.

Agreed Kami, but if the clubs interested in such players are aware of that, then they'll simply factor it into their negotiations and offer even less in terms of the overall fee plus wage contribution ...

How far does Arshavin's price point have to drop before there's a few potentially interested parties I wonder? Surely Zenit would lay out a bit to have him back.

Don't think there's much chance of Song moving on in this window. But if he does go in the next 12 months, Sahin would be a superb long term replacement.

I tend to agree, I think GM had it right earlier and he's currently being softened up by Barcelona for a serious assault either next summer or the one after. That's how they do, and Busquets recent media comments are entirely consistent with their past m.o.

The Guardian have an article today that states Wenger and the board are really annoyed with Song right now for looking around. It also states that Song's contract runs until 2015.

Alex Song has caused irritation at Arsenal with his desire to explore his transfer market options in the face of interest from a clutch of leading clubs, including Barcelona. The midfielder has been made aware that he is in demand after a positive season last time out and he wants to listen to what is on offer.

But his stance has gone down badly with the manager, Arsène Wenger, and the board, who feel that Song ought merely to have ignored the approaches to his representatives and continued to show gratitude for what the club has done for him. Wenger took Song as a teenager from Bastia in a deal that was initially worth £350,000 and has developed him into a defensive midfielder of repute.

The friction has built to the point where Wenger has questioned Song's worth to the team and even wondered whether he may sell him if a large offer were to come in. Arsenal have not yet received any official bids.

Well if there is some truth in this rumour, and it seems to me that there is, we're in the stronger position at the moment.

Leaving aside annoyance at Song for being disloyal to some degree, there is no reason to sell him unless Barcelona launch a massive bid.
My guess would be that they won't - this is their usual long game - unsettle the player and disrupt his relationship with the club this summer, before coming in with an insulting bid next summer when he only has a year to run on his contract.

I suppose if he's showing signs of being a real ass about this we could sell him and look at M'vila again? (assuming that we'll get Sahin on loan too).

I think Wenger is getting sick to his back teeth about taking up these absolute nobodies, nurturing them, training them, making them world class only for them to up and leave.

Compare Song when he signed to the player he is now.

Lightyears apart and that's all down to Wenger.

Look at Clichy, Flamini, Hleb, Adepaymore, Nasri, Cesc, Van Persie etc all of them increased massively under Wenger's tutelage.

Song can get fucked if he really wants to leave now that we've made him into a class player after years of putting up with his shit in midfield.

Arsenal better not sell Song, he's only player that is stoping Diaby for getting into the starting line up.
