It's all bollocks, if people think the little fairies at UEFA will be able to dictate anything to the big clubs- they're naive beyond belief.
The threat of forming a Euro super league is ever present.
As always it will be judged in the crucible of the market place not what Platini and Wenger want in their socialist dream world.

I can just hear Sandro Rosell and Uli Hoeness now:

"Oh no, our pals at Manchester City are going to be excluded from European competition, we'd better heed their pleas to form a crocked super league in which there would be no limits on spending and they, PSG, Malaga and Anzhi would always win ..."

I imagine they will be very worried if enough clubs get together, can offer players the highest wages, and take a big chunk out of the TV revenues on offer to the CL today.

I don't think any of us want it, but I said it's always there as an ambit threat.
No, at the first mention of it you'll see UEFA back-pedalling and their quixotic FPP shelved and hopefully Platini deposed.

I'll wager a year with Donald Trump as my avatar that no European or transcontinental "super league" will be formed outside the auspices of whatever is the future iteration of the UEFA/FIFA governing bodies.

I agree, but only because I don't think UEFA will ever find the teeth or will to kick a premier club out of their showpiece competition.

It'll probably never go that far.

I reckon there will be larger global rights packages for the CL broadcasts, this will further lock in the top clubs and lead to more momentum behind further expansion of the competition to lock up yet more TV money as "prize" or simply participation money.

No, as I say the threat of it will be sufficient to quell any nonsense about the FFP actually being enforced.

On one side we have Platini Wenger and all the other little Tinker Belles.....And on the other we have- Money.

FFP suits every traditional powerhouse in europe. So no, it isn't some little tinker belles on one side.

Read up Biggsy. Because of the ridiculous amount of "legitimate" revenue they get from La Liga's skewed rights package and other sources, they aren't that threatened by FFP.

That's where you are missing the point. FFP has nothing to do with sharing or fair play. It's a measure to lower or prevent private investment which, as I said, suits the established powers just fine.

This actually read quite interesting. It shows that we're actually attempting to shackle ourselves a little bit more than we need do.

What we need to do, and we all know this already, is to increase our commercial revenues. Match day income and TV-money we mostly go toe to toe with the other big clubs, but when it comes to capitalizing on our brand on a global market, we are seriously behind. Some of that should change with the new sponsorship deals in 2014, but we really must become better at selling merchandize in every corner of the world.
