Walcott isn't this obscure prospect from Eastern Europe, we all watch him every week. And, crucially, this isn't his debut season, he's been here long enough and has the team built around him now. Also, Henry's achievements by the age of 23 were more impressive.

If you play Walcott up front every game for a season, he gets you 30 goals all comps and over 20 in the league. I am 100% sure of that. That said Podolski would probably do the same too. So it's ridiculous that we've gone with Gervinho and Giroud at times when these two options have been available.

Theo has off days but generally he's an excellent finisher. Everything else about his game sucks, but he can put the ball in the net - there's no doubt about it.

That pass to giroud in the first five minutes and then girouds miss, suggests contrary to popular belief, he can pass the ball.

If we play Walcott up front with another front man, yes he will be very useful and score goals.

If we play Walcott up top alone, you are asking for it.

Walcott on the wing is more of what we need IMO. No doubt he would score a lot through the middle though.

you theo lovers have no idea what you're talking about. he is not even in the same league as henry when it comes to technique, close control, ballstriking and awareness. drawing ridiculous conclusions based on three stats (age, goals, assists) is the sort of pseudo-quantitative analysis that causes teams to spend 20m on stewart fucking downing. get a clue and get a grip.

There's no theo lovers round here but he is our most productive attacker.

No one was comparing Henry's technique or awareness to Theo's except you. And yeah because Stewart downings stats were blowing the league apart before he joined pool, surprised barca didn't go in for him. There are so many stupid reasons why downing went for 20m to pool, his stats were not one of them

Who is the odd one out? When Walcott is your star striker you know you have issues.

Improving but not worth 100K a week and would not get into any of our sides of the last 15 years (as a main striker).

Considering top tier players command salaries over £200k a week I'd say Theo is worth £100k a week, especially when similar quality English players are probably on more.

Theo had no options. The teams above us had better players in his position(s). Unless of course, he was willing to take a gamble on Everton or Spurs, neither of which would have paid him anywhere near 100,000 pounds a week.

He would have gone to pretty much any team in the world if he waited until summer AND got paid 100k+.

I'm sure on a free better clubs would of picked him up, he has stayed because he knows what is best for him right now is being at Arsenal. When he has stopped his development unless we have improved he will leave then. Good move for him and for us to be fair.

1 - Domestic teams: I have already shown above that those teams do not need him.
2 - Foreign teams: if they really wanted him, they could have signed a pre-contract with him from January 1st.

Conclusion: this was a man low on attractive alternatives.

If you think a 23 year old england international available on a free wouldn't move to any of the big four then, quite frankly, you have a screw loose. Your reasoning on foreign teams is equally blinkered.

Ferguson would have snapped him up on a free as a squaddie. Liverpool are pretty poor in the wide forward department as well.

We can safely say that Theo actually wanted to stay AND he wanted a good deal. He got his way and that's all there is to it.
