if i had to choose between the 2, i'd rather have theo in our front three

He's above chasing down defenders
To be fair, Theo's talked that sort of nonsense since he was born.
Honestly, you lot still read this stuff?
I like Theo, and have absolutely zero interest in what he or any of the other players have to say.
Am I missing something? 😆
Saw the reaction here and thought 'oh god what has he said!'
Read it a though... 'Huh?'
Pretty much the standard, harmless Theo sound bites.
It's not really a reaction if you don't reach against something specific, just repeat a fringe view 😉
does it not get under your skin having these highly paid players saying "oh yeah, we have the quality, just got to stay focussed, apply ourselves and try" then watching them jog around the pitch for most of the game, and at the times where they do put effort in it's nothing but chaos theory on the pitch
We have tried him upfront and he has proved to not be good enough. Make him play on the right, with the extra responsibility of defending, or sell him.

It's not like Theo thought all of that himself, it's all PR work by the club.
Blaming Walcott for our defensive malaise is ridiculous.
more blame for the lack of goals against the top teams
Eh? He's scored in plenty of big games against big teams.
When it comes to players who are to blame this season Theo is probably bottom of the list.
that's true but it is still annoying to see him not even trying to close down opposition players when we are under the cosh

collateral damage from bombs aimed at wenger
We've got to decide if he's a striker in or system or not. No good moving him about.

Isn't he our top scorer? Despite playing most of games on the wing.
He can maybe play as a striker in this system against weak opposition but its pointless against decent teams when there will be times when we are put under pressure and need to make the ball stick up front. Overall i don't think he'll thrive there unless we change the set-up of the team.
If we can't pass the ball to him on the floor there's no point at all playing him as a lone striker. He has probably had a little more success there than I expected this season, but if we can't get the ball to him on the floor then we're playing with 10 men. Doing that is a lot harder to do, though not impossible, against good teams.
He was effectively marked out of the whole Bayern game apart from one instant when he received the ball a bit deeper and dribbled past 2 or 3 of their players before laying it off to someone who Sagna'd it. All the while we all know he would have more chances to do this from the wide right position as well as keeping their FB honest and giving us the outlet option. It's kind of like Nani insisting on playing CF.
I think it is obvious that Theo will only work as a striker when playing together with someone else. That is basically what he is doing from the wing. When we are in possession I know a lot of you here are complaining that Theo strays central too often and too early. I would be very, very surprised if that movement isn't by Wenger's design. Too me it clearly looks as if Theo moves closer to Giroud when we are in possession to be able to feed off knockdowns and combination play in the initial phase. If nothing materializes he goes back wide right. Sound tactics to me as well. Defensively it has knock on effects. It means that since Walcott is often out of position when we lose the ball he is not able to defend the wing properly from the go. The switch to two central midfielders to me seems to be to allow Walcott that freedom. It means that one of the central midfielders quite often has to cover for Walcott in the initial defensive phase. I am fairly certain that is what Wenger wants, and that is often what we see.
