It's very dramatic, almost Caravaggio, except for Pat's stony faced attempt at pretending it's not happening.

Seriously though, it's hard to look at Wenger in that state and not see that he cares.
Why does he do it to himself and to us?
Just take £40m this summer and sort out the midfield for starters.

What City did was nowhere near as impressive as '89. For one thing, if they hadn't fucked up in the 90 minutes prior to that the game wouldn't have been half as dramatic.

I don't know if it's related to his injury, but he seems much more indecisive. Both on Norwich's 3rd and West Brom's 2nd he took a step or two, and then decided not to come out. Same thing with crosses, he tends to be a little too passive. But I think that's normal for a young keeper and where his inexperience comes in, especially when we play a high line. Pretty sure he'll improve that. Early on he was much more aggressive at least at sweeping behind (always a bit shy on crosses I thought), so maybe the injury has something to do with it.

If you remember, Fabianski used to come out for everything and anything, and after having flapped a couple of times and having Drogba and others run around him, he was also quite insecure coming out. All I'm saying is it's par for the course for a young keeper, and since Sczez is the starter, he better sort it out.

Timeline fits in my view with Szczesny"s form dropping a bit. Explains a lot, I was wondering what was up with him. He was very good from late Jan until about the end of our run of good form. The fact that he carried on shows just how important Wenger feels he is to us, and just how much Szczesny cares, considering he could easily have put himself out of the Euros. Whrre he's obviously guaranteed to be number one in front of his own fans. Hope he's okay for it.

It took some time, but now I can say with a straight face that Almunia is not the worst goalkeeper I have ever seen in the PL.

Incredible day yesterday. Hardly a majestic performance, but got the job done with some good fortune that's been long overdue. The 10 minutes after the game rank up there as the best experienced in the past few seasons. Been recovering a tad today.

Credit to Santos and Benayoun, both who were superb. Loudest song of the day was sung for the latter, after his sublime touch in injury time just about settled the side, and made sure the points were in the bag. A tad gutted to think he'll be back at Chelsea next season. Santos was also brilliant. Easily his best performance for the Arsenal imo. Midfield was a real worry, but given the players out, and the likely strengthening this summer, we shouldn't be seeing those three play together any time soon.

Thank fuck it's all over. For now.

I thought Santos was brilliant all day long. Defended well, attacked with aplomb. Heard some fans saying he was poor and Gibbs was perfect just because of that tackle though.

I thought Gibbs was a good change initially, as defensively, Gervinho had pretty much given up the chase (he was woeful yet again). I was fuming as soon as i'd realised Wenger had put him in at LB though. Not only because you shouldn't change the back four round unless it's necessary, but because you just knew that Gibbs would be all over the place again. Nearly cost us on more than one occasion, and yeah, whilst it was a sensational tackle, there's no way Jones should have been in that position in the first place.

Maybe, but it's still two separate things, the latter of which remains epic. Also in terms of psychological impact: it's great that he knows he has it in him - "nothing's lost, I can make that tackle" - as a confidence builder, and as an encouragement to take responsibility.
Saving a goal like that, perhaps "saving a season" with a tackle is the glory equivalent of a winning goal for a striker.
