Think if you are going to take Sturridge, you're better off taking Defoe who has proven ability from the bench and does relatively well for england.

Would have taken Richards, Carrick and Ferdinand without question. Strange omissions to say the least.

The squad is poo. The players omitted aren't necessarily world beaters, but the likes of Carrick and Richards were well worth a place and are proper footballers at least. And Downing being in there is a joke.

Be very interested to see what Carroll can do for England. Players of his type tend to do well at international tournaments—this could be the highlight of an otherwise underwhelming career.

I can easily see Roy sticking Gerrard out wide and Lampard in the center. Just so that both of them play.

Which i think has been England's biggest problem in the past few big tournaments. No manager has had the balls to drop either.

Should've just stuck Gerrard as the dragging forward instead of dropping either one of them, but the misconception that he's a central midfielder will be around until he retires.

Terry has been awful this season, finish 6th, stupid red card, so many trips and slips, racism court case, previous captain that got manager sacked. And he still gets in the team, what an overrated twat he is, stupid decision from roy as well. Terry like giggs is insanely over rated. And rio who went on a title run, as did richards and carrick are not in, whilst sturridge drops out for downing/carroll. On top of that henderson is on standby. The only big, good decision he has made was getting chambo in.

Problem is Capello played with 2 strikers. Probably the only big team in Europe who did that.

Worst part is, Roy is going to do the same thing. Without Rooney no less.

He's only brought 4 strikers, unlikely he'll play with 2 up top. He'll play 4-2-3-1 like everyone else.

maybe you're right about that. but from whatever i have seen of Roy, he loves a 4-4-2.

if i were him, I'd completely leave out Gerrard from the team.

Downing must be the Eboue of the England team, only comes on to add insult to injury to opposition teams when England are comfortable ahead....cant think of any other reasons for the £16m 0 goals and 0 assists wing wizard to be in the squad.
