I'll go Pirlo, just. Both genuinely great midfield playmakers though, and I'd probably say Xavi tomorrow.
Pirlo or scholes?
Again reluctantly because I canΒ΄t stand the little fucker - Scholes.
Pirlo.
Pirlo is the second greatest midfielder I've seen during the past decade, and probably the one with the biggest range in his repertoire.
Pirlo - Scholes is not a contest. Haven't seen anybody who is singlehandedly able to dictate the pace and flow of the offense as well as Pirlo. Milan screwed up but they ca be forgiven due to his previous 2 seasons.
Scholes is superb but Pirlo's been consistently immense at every level. Was it WC 06 that he was MOTM for three games in a row including the final?
He was robbed in that tournament. Zidane, who was downright terrible in France's first two games and got sent off in the final, nicked the best player award. It should have been Pirlo's.
Cannavaro was also seen as Italy's best player over Pirlo.
All these midfield playmaking midgets need somebody next to them to hold their hands though-Gattuso, Keane, Vidal, Busquets etc. That's why somebody like Vieira (Essien or Yaya too) is so special, cos they can do everything themselves.
Best midfielder talent wise I've seen bar Gazza is effenberg
Off to South America for Clarence...An all time favorite of mine...

Milan won't have any players left for next season at this rate. Inzaghi, Seedorf, Nesta, Gattuso, Van Bommel and Ambrosini so far I think, and I can't imagine Flamini staying either.
Van Bommel leaving as well.
Heh. Managed to modify my post the same minute Clarence made his post to make him look like a fool. π

You think Vieira could do what Pirlo and Xavi do? Yaya? I don't. Not to that level anyway.
I admit though that players like Pirlo and Xavi are specialists while Vieira and Yaya are more all rounders. For example the latter two could do a job in defence and up front (as Yaya has displayed for both Barca and City).

Thought the days of matchfixing were over in Italian football. You'd think that they would have learned their lesson by now. Hope Juve and Conte aren't involved.

I on the other hand HOPE Juve is involved. Don't want another Invincibles side...
