You have to rate Rooney up there as the player of the season to be fair. He's been quietly phenomenal for them this year.

What annoys me about him is that you feel he should be kicking on into that absolute top tier with guys like Ronaldo, Messi etc. but he still seems to be in that bracket below. Could just be perception.

United play in a different way to us, their midfield isn't half as important to winning games. Not with the way teams set-up in the Premier League and the lower standard they face most weeks. It's a different story against good European teams - or even poor European teams - but that's another issue.

They have experience and medals coming out of the eyeballs, right through the team and the squad. Look what a few big wins have done for the confidence of our team, now imagine us after winning a League title or the Champions League.

100% agreed. But Flobaba has a good point too, man for man we are better.

Na, he had a real quiet patch from around the end of August until around the turn of the year - Ronaldo, Messi just don't have those long dips.

Rooney hasn't got it in him to keep up the sort of form he showed at the start of the season over a long period, and that's what he'd need to even have a chance of being considered in Ronaldo's class, let alone Messi's.

They're not better than we are man for man, IMO. Just better coached, and hence a more effective unit. Especially defensively.

Think this is pretty much it. I think we're 2 players short of having a squad of equal strength to Utd including the first XI, so basically, it's down to coaching, motivation, and form.

Now that we're "in form" maybe we'll stop choking...but I don't think Wenger can pull it off on the day (either the motivation needed or the tactics).

Saw somewhere the other day that Ronaldo has just passed 100 goals in La Liga. Fastest ever player to do so, needing only 91 games I think.

Could have been here I read it come to think of it. 🙂

Messi was unfortunate enough in this respect to have to break through in La Liga.

I'm sure you need no help to find anything porn related on the interweb, mate.

Was it no good then Ricky?

Well yeah, that's why I said he annoys me...
