True. I think the main point of contention there was that the Fairs Cup wasn't a Uefa competition and instead run by Fifa. When Uefa took over they renamed it to the Uefa Cup.
The Cup Winner Cup was actually ranked above the Uefa Cup. The Uefa Cup was the 3rd tier of European football and it's why I find it strange peopme hating on us for "never winning a European trophy" when they mean the European Cup.
Even if we agree to not link the Fairs Cup and Uefa Cup/EL, we've still won the second tier of European football which technically should have more prestige than the EL. At least it used to to those who grew up through that period.
