I checked with my partner's acquaintance who's working for the European Commission on coordinating nanosecond resolution time accuracy for scientists of many EU nations via atomic clocks. He told me it's not just a weird feeling. Even the experts agree the elapsed time since Arsenal won its last major trophy is continually increasing.

Great talent he was. Real shame how it panned out. I don't know what that guy means by "would be afforded more time and patience" these days... He was the impatient and shortsighted fool.

We got a great profit for Anelka, to be fair. I guess it was a shame he left, but true or false there were always reports his ego and demands were tricky, and I remember it was mostly considered good business at the time. I think the club had a different, more naive approach to briefing through its pet media men at that time.

Didn't the money from the Anelka sale help us build our training ground London Colney? A shame he left after those two great seasons, he never really hit the height he should have imo. That 98/99 season is probably the best he ever looked. We got Henry a year or so later and the rest is history as they say!

I remember getting home from school and not knowing what to do with myself, I was so nervous and couldn't think of anything but the game, so in the end, I called my uncle to check he was home from work and then we went up to my granddad's together to wait - and then watch.

If people accept that the Europa League is effectively the same as the UEFA Cup, then by the same logic, our victory in the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup — the predecessor to the UEFA Cup — means we've technically won that trophy as well.

True. I think the main point of contention there was that the Fairs Cup wasn't a Uefa competition and instead run by Fifa. When Uefa took over they renamed it to the Uefa Cup.

The Cup Winner Cup was actually ranked above the Uefa Cup. The Uefa Cup was the 3rd tier of European football and it's why I find it strange peopme hating on us for "never winning a European trophy" when they mean the European Cup.

Even if we agree to not link the Fairs Cup and Uefa Cup/EL, we've still won the second tier of European football which technically should have more prestige than the EL. At least it used to to those who grew up through that period.

Bring Back Kerrea Gilbert European competition for the winners of each European country's association cup (in our case the FA Cup). The year we won it, we beat teams like Torino, PSG (you'll have heard about that) and then Parma in the final.
