Season after season we survived without him being available. Podolski and Giroud are decent signings, if we make the right moves, we will find a way to survive without him again.

Yeah but then dont act like you are a fan and care about arsenal then, if vpersie felt this way why didnt he say it when he was on the injury table and picking up 80k a week.

This statement will gnaw me all night. He really didn't need to do this, he could have pushed for the move without being outspoken and irreverent. I really wouldn't have begrudged him the move, but i have nothing left for him anymore.

Yeah, I Know, bit shattered by the way this has been handled by him but I kind of believe that dealing with the current Arsenal management and set-up must be soul destroying for any player who's seen them sell off the best of a squad that had greatness whilst getting stuck with mediocrity and dregs.

Meh. Maybe I'm one of the few who's not that affected by this, probably because I never really felt an emotional connection to RvP.

Let him leave. He'll never have another season like last year again. Wenger is terrible at some things, but he's very good at making his star player look good. And he did that with the team consruction last season(particularly the first half).

This is more a psychological blow for the club rather than how it will affect our actual performance in the coming season. We lost Cesc(a much more influental player for Arsenal across many seasons) and Nasri last year and got 3rd.

Don't come out with some bullshit statement absolving yourself of the blame and making it sound like the fact that we often went into the season without our best striker had nothing to do with the faith that the club put in him. A truly ambitious club would have flogged him off to Valencia a long time ago. He more than anyone else that's left has benefited from the inertia that we're in.

I don't blame him (too much) though, I expect his agent spent all weekend crafting that. As long as he doesn't make it a point of repeating it on SSN/talkspite etc

In general players with 2 years who refuse to sign should be benched. After 2 years on the bench they wont get any great offers. If they want to leave we can sell them but this forcing the club to quick sale for cheap shouldn't be put up with.

Well, this is a bit shit, but not all that unexpected. We'll do fine next season without him.

About the statement, I wouldn't have done it, and I think it's ill advised to do it without the clubs involvement. But at least we know what is going on, and many of you have been asking for more openness about our dealings. I just want us to be classy and say nothing.

😆 Our lack of ambition has allowed him to become the player he is today and now he bemoans the very hand that feeds him. A bit like toure when he said we needed to buy more star names when he himself wouldnt have even become a footballer if arsene didnt decide to take a punt on a young, rash defender with potential.

You'd think someone who was only able to blossom thanks to Arsene's persistence would be more respectful of the way our club conducts itself.

Imho, RVP (and his agent/advisors) have released this statement to force our hand, worried that we might make him stay an extra year. By saying what he has we will look like complete mugs if we force him to see out his contract. He wants City (imo) and he wants 200k a week.

that's why we should keep him. let him go a free next summer after we've seen what podolski and giroud are up to. he'll easily get 220k or more a week if he's a free agent and coming off another excellent and healthy season.

tell him he's our #1 striker for the 2012-13 season, but stripped of the captaincy of course and it's now up to him to earn that big bosman contract by performing for us.

Nasri's problem was and is his immaturity in dealing with bad fan reaction but in regards to how he treated the club and Wenger he was much more professional and respectful than RVP and Cesc. Essentially the big difference is RVP and Cesc are both smarter and Nasri is thick kid who has no idea how to deal with the press, as he showed this summer for France.
