We should make them earn their keep and stick them in Gunnersaurus.

What do you mean? Chamakh is still like that if anything its his weakness, his problem is scoring goals which giroud is doing for fun.

The Chamakh I remember "when he arrived" did manage a few goals, and won penalties and showed up when he was on the pitch. Nowadays, having him on the pitch doesn't seem to make much of a difference, it's almost like playing with 10 men. It's probably why we don't see him on the pitch much ! I can understand he didn't cope well with being sidelined when RVP came back from injury last season, but then I look at Benayoun this year, who hasn't had much more game time than Chamakh and think he's got the right of it just for his attitude. I'd love for our Moroccan to do a Rosicky vs Spurs transformation next time he's on the pitch, but I somehow don't see it coming.
As for Giroud not looking anything special, I've not seen much of him, but his finish yesterday against Germany was cool and composed, and his stats aren't too shabby, top scorer in Ligue 1 with 16 goals and 7 assists as well...

Is that how Chamakh is currently ? I thought of him more like the invisble man, whether on or off the pitch. I'll make sure I watch more closely next time he's given a chance.

Well i thought it was common knowledge that (his weakness) all he does is hold onto the ball and make pointless passes for others to score which is basically what nasri said, the problem with chamakh is his obvious lack of goals for a striker.

if the rumours are true, then i guess it'd be:
van persie, podolski, gervinho, suarez, walcott, campbell, miyaichi, afobe

suarez is a wide forward, right? i'm still not sure if we'd score without van persie. i'd rather trade in 2 of 4 after van persie for 1 better player. we need to improve the first team - if anything, we have way too many bench players.

If both Podolski and Suarez sign on, we could well see the end of Theo, cus I doubt Miyaichi and Alex Chambo would get sidelined for long.

Whether we get Champions league football or not will be a huge determining factor in who we sign and who we let go. At this stage it's all up in the air.

Who we do or don't bring in very much hinges on Champions League qualification. At the mo we really don't know what will happen.

Well, passes for others to score are not pointless, they're called assists, and as far as I'm aware, Chamakh hasn't been credited with any (at least in the PL) this season (http://www.whoscored.com/Teams/13/Show/England-Arsenal). I think I wouldn't mind so much if Chamakh wasn't scoring but racking up assists instead. Anyways, we both seem to agree that he's not been of much use to us in a while.

I never said he made assists to others to score i said and i quote "pointless passes" in order for other players to score rather than himself. Meaning he holds the ball up and doesnt actually do anything productive, a bit like heskey he makes pointless passes.

Well this depends on who we are after. At the moment we are linked with the likes of Podolski/Suarez, and I don't think not qualifying for the CL would be a problem for them. Missing CL might be a deal breaker for Hazard, but sadly I don't see us trying to sign him nor his equivalents. The only impact it might have is on RVP, but I think he will be an Arsenal player next season even if he doesn't sign a new contract.
