I guess it's vaguely possible that an ITK, official or agent might tease a hack journo or Twitter wannabe with that sort of information - or that someone might put it about in the media as a lead-in to a big exclusive.
Still smells dodgy as though.
Sure, not always, but many of the rumours that turn out to be true are the ones where there's a lot of smoke that starts to blow one way, and then a fire to explain it all.
