That's definitely going to play on Gervinho's mind for a while.
He's not going to come back in great shape, took a few knocks physically that he might have overcome but that miss is going to make him hurt.
The 2012 African Cup of Nations
Hope this turns out to be a Koscielny in the CC final moment for him.
The IC keeper.... it's like there was no one in goal, basically.
I'm actually pretty disappointed in Gervinho. You could see the coach shouting for him to take one, but he wouldn't.

fixed!

I thought I saw that myself. He was shouting "Gervi" repeatedly, just before Kolo stepped up and took his right?
Glad Zambia won. That decision for a re-take was a disgrace.
Why would you take a penalty if you weren't confident of scoring?

That's right.
Incredible; Cote d'Ivoire didn't concede a goal throughout the whole tournament, yet still didn't win.
oh well, not long til the next ACN
A great player would go away, stay an extra hour after training every day for the next 12 months, and at the ACoN next February step up and take the first penalty that the Ivory Coast get given.

Zero confidence in himself to score, not what we want to see.
Very poor.
Don't mind Zambia winning it, but so gutted for Gervinho
At least he wasn't the only that fucked up and he also won a penalty during the match which Drogba missed.

The issue is just that. Why wasn't he confident of scoring? He's a forward at Arsenal Football Club. Hell, even Drogba stepped up to take one after missing his penalty in the final 2 years ago and again tonight in normal time.

He didn't have any presence at all, looked far more nervous than most of the Zambian penalty takers.
Mweene was far more imposing.

At least idiots like Adebayor and Bendtner never let themselves get down by missing. Still it's not the end of the world.
Drogba cost them the final for a second time in a row, I wonder how he's feeling right now?
Well, at least there's a valuable lesson for us (like we needed it) as we're in 2 cups yet. We know who's not going to shoot (seriously - he must be the last man in the team).

It really was.
Linesman trying to make a name for himself, or something more sinister?

Because he misses more chances than he actually scores and has being doing so with increasing regularity in the games he played before ACN.
What's going to be wenger's spin?
"he won them the penalty; he put them on course to win." "And he's the one who got them to the final in the first place".
In such a long shootout someone will miss, it's more luck than anything else".
